Moon Dog World
City of Darebin
Chifley Drive, Preston
Ratio is proud to have contributed to the planning permit approval for Moon Dog World which opened in late 2019. The extravagant bar-brewery is permitted to accommodate up to 725 patrons and comprises an indoor waterfall, a lagoon, a hidden tiki bar, a shipping container full of pinball machines and a selection of 72 beers on tap.
The bar-brewery has been set-up within a large refurbished warehouse that forms part of the industrial precinct along the eastern boundary of the suburb of Preston. The development is an example of a growing trend of supplementary uses being established within industrial zones throughout metropolitan Melbourne, such as bars, breweries, restaurants, distilleries, gymnasiums and indoor sporting facilities. These uses tend to peak outside of the typical business hours of the surrounding warehouse and industrial tenancies enabling them to effectively utilise the capacity within the road network and on-street parking at time when they would otherwise be underutilised. Moon Dog World was permitted with a large reduction in car parking from the statutory requirements of the Darebin Planning Scheme, as Ratio: was able to demonstrate to Council that there was sufficient capacity within the surrounding on-street car parking supply at times when the bar-brewery would peak.
A great project by Moon Dog and we suggest you ‘hop in’ and check it out!
