Martha Cove Marina Development
Client: Marina Cove Pty Ltd
Project Summary: A major marina and residential development at Safety Beach including lowering of Marine Drive under the main waterway.
Key Issues: Conversion of Tassels Creek into a network of inland canals required re-structuring of the arterial and local road network.
Contact: Russell Symons
Martha Cove is currently being developed in stages and will ultimately provide approximately:
- 900 wet and dry marina berths
- a public boat ramp
- 1000 residential allotments and townhouses
- a 5000m2 commercial centre
- plus a retirement village (stage 6)
Marine Drive has been re-constructed as a tunnel under the marina waterway linking the marina and inland canals to Port Phillip.
The Challenge:
Marine Drive, as a primary arterial road, needed to be re-constructed to high geometric standard, especially at its key intersections. During construction, arterial road traffic was diverted to local roads.
The Approach:
Ratio was involved for 15 years in the preliminary Planning and Environmental Effects Study for the project, through to functional design and Road Safety Audits for all major roadworks.
The Result:
Infrastructure for the development (including main waterways) is now complete with many homes and marina berths now occupied and the public boat ramp operational.
