820 Whitehorse Road, Box Hill
East Central Tower, located at 820 Whitehorse Road in Box Hill, has recently achieved practical completion and is now welcoming its first round of new residents and other tenants. The high-rise mixed-use tower developed by Longriver and designed by Fender Katsalidis Architects features a striking façade with white framing poised over extensive glazing and makes a sharp and elegant addition to the evolving Box Hill streetscape.
The 30-level development comprises 275 residential apartments, retail and office spaces and includes communal areas centred around wellness as yoga rooms, gym and sauna and home entertainment – libraries, home theatre, games room, children’s play spaces.
Ratio’s transport team joined the project team during the inception phase for the project back in 2015 and were actively involved in the design development of the skyscraper, as well as the successful VCAT proceedings.
The initial car parking option involved the use of fully automated car stackers. This was ultimately changed to a more conventional multi-level basement car park with a ramp arrangement.
The site is ideally located to benefit from a wide range of sustainable transport modes. Ratio contributed to the development of a Green Travel Plan to encourage greater use of sustainable transport and a Car Park Management Plan to optimise the allocation and use of on-site car parking spaces.
