This development seeks to introduce a striking new building designed by Jesse Ant Architects into the Box Hill Major Activity centre. The
13 storey commercial development comprises office and restaurant floor space.
With a site area of only 450 square metres, the challenge for this development was to use the site as efficiently as possible while addressing key planning considerations associated with urban design, car parking and overshadowing of public open space. The design makes efficient use of the site, providing a mix of office and restaurant space over 13 levels.
With input from our traffic team, the design has adopted an above-ground mechanical car parking system contained within the rear portion of the first 6 levels. By providing the car parking above ground, this reduces the need for excessive excavation and provides an opportunity for the adaptive re-purposing of this floor space in the future, should the car parking become redundant.
Ratio worked closely with the project team to ensure a well-considered proposal could be presented to Council, which ultimately resulted in a permit issuing through Council,.
We look forward to seeing this development built and forming part of the changing face of Box Hill as it continues to grow and evolve.
