ratio: has had ongoing involvement with this landmark site (the former home of the Greyhound Hotel) over a number of years.  Our initial involvement saw the issue of a planning permit for a seven storey mixed use development through VCAT. It also encompassed the demolition of the Greyhound Hotel which was somewhat controversial at the time given its perceived social heritage significance.

Twenty 20 Property Group purchased the site in 2020 and encouraged Bruce Henderson Architects to rethink the apartment layouts to respond to market demand, while also coming up with a building design befitting the prominent intersection.

The arched and curved façade elements were supported by Council planners and urban designers and seen as an improvement to the previous approval. ratio: was able to negotiate with Council officers a supportive outcome, having regard to parameters set by the existing approval and assisted by an architecturally interesting design and a strong ESD response.

We look forward to seeing this corner transformed with this attractive building, which will appropriately address this prominent intersection.
